What We'll Discuss...

Analyze Business Needs, Sector by Sector

Discuss recommendations for how The Staten Island Chamber can help.

Identify Hurdles Currently Facing Organizations

Both within your community and others. Work on opening communication to express needs.

Address Unmet Community Needs & Examine Funding

Look towards the future beyond the pandemic. We will discuss creating plans for the future.

During the focus group, we will also be going over questions such as:

  • What do you think are the 3 most important issues facing SI that the nonprofit community should focus its resources on? What do you think are the most significant barriers to addressing these needs?
  • How do you think needs differ among community members in various locations within Staten Island?
  • Do local nonprofits compete for any type of resources?
  • Have you seen a drastic reduction in funding over the last year? City, State, Federal, Private? If so, what types of services have you had to reduce and what has been the impact on the local community?
  • Are there gaps or unmet needs in the community that should be addressed? If so, what are they? What is the extent of the problems in these areas? What are the priority needs?
  • Are there gaps or unmet needs in the community that should be addressed? If so, what are they? What is the extent of the problems in these areas? What are the priority needs?
  • Looking to the future (in the next year or so), what do you see as the outlook for those in need? How about in the next 3-5 years?
  • How do you see the NY SHIELD Act affecting nonprofits and has your organization began implementing changes to meet the requirements for the NY SHIELD act?
  • What recommendations do you have for the Chamber of Commerce for improving services for nonprofits?
